GoTo
GoTo is a simple & secure fully integrated VoIP, meetings, and messaging business solution. In 2020 I joined GoTo leading the mobile app UX across a company-wide strategic priority to unify all of the separate communication and collaboration apps into a single product experience.

The core question
How can we create a scalable app strategy that unifies the full value of GoTo’s five separate apps, while eliminating the frustrations of account setup, system configuration, and constant switching between them?

App architecture
I led the mobile initiative to integrate three distinct product experiences into a single, cohesive mobile design. This required close collaboration with cross-platform teams (desktop and web) to ensure that the converged apps not only present a unified look and feel but also deliver an intuitive experience across all platforms.
Mobile was not a secondary surface: roughly 30% of meeting participants and over half of all Webinar users were already joining from a mobile device. Yet there had been little recent research on the mobile apps, and several parts of the experience had never been tested at all.

Designing the details
Without a mature design system for mobile, I led the unification of multiple mobile apps into a cohesive overarching experience. I mapped common user flows, aligned component details with other designers, and collaborated with engineers to bring consistency across the platform.

App launch and impact
We launched the unified app in September 2021. Against the months before launch, tablet users grew 33% while all users grew 7%, and meeting-start events among tablet users rose 341%.
